First of all, tigernut falls in the tuber family that is enjoyed by a lot of people especially men due to its sexual related benefits. They come from a grass in the sedge family. It can be found growing wild throughout Africa, the Middle East, India, and Southern Europe. But we all know everything that has an advantage will definitely have its disadvantages.

Below is the disadvantages of our beloved tigernuts:

  1. Eating a lot of tiger nuts at a time can cause abdominal pain, bloating, flatulence, diarrhea or constipation. People with crohn’s disease and slower digestive systems may experience intestinal blockage.
  2. Unpeeled tigernut is not good for digestive systems that has high fiber content.
  3. Eating a lot of tiger nuts will result in an itchy sensation in the throat.
  4. Tigernuts contains elements that may act as allergens triggering infections in the body.
  5. Swallowing the chaff of tigernuts can irritate the airway which will lead to coughing.
