“safest hands” and their “creators” in our leagues: Zulka Masawudu and Robert Dabuo of Young Apostles

The Ghanaian Leagues since it kicked has witnessed a lot of goalkeepers who are the reason why teams are win a league or relegated or even being the reason why their are champions of a tournaments like the FA Cup.
Most of our attention are on the goalscorers and the onfeild players which makes us forget the contributions of these goalkeepers who are part of the first 11 on the field but we mostly don’t refer to them as players.
These safest pair of hands are one of the major measuring tools for strikers but mostly we turn to blame goalscorers for not scoring and forget the effort of the goalkeepers from keeping them from scoring.
Even as we shower these goalkeepers with praises we forget the one behind their unimaginable acts that keeps their team going even if they don’t score against their opponents.
In part 1 of this article I will start with a goalkeeper and a goalkeepers coach from newly promoted Ghana Premier League team, Young Apostles based in Wenchi.

There are a lot of goalkeepers and goalkeeper coaches in the Ghana Premier and the other leagues which will be discussed and analysed on the ournewsgh.com platform.
A video on it will be on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and X handle with the name Nasiru Aboney.
Moving on with our goalkeeper and his coach in Young Apostles, I will go beyond numbers and talk about attributes related to performance which people should look out for.
As the saying goes, beyond every successful man is a woman but in my terms behind every safest pair of hands is a dedicated and experienced coach.
Zulka Masawudu this season in the Ghana premier League has been a delight despite he sharing the podium with a lot of big names. He in my opinion denied Accra Lions their 3 points they were hunting for and made sure they settled for 1 point each.

His praises won’t be enough without recognizing his goalkeepers trainer Robert Dabuo who during his stint in the post was an impenetrable wall.
Robert Dabuo has been the reason the goalkeepers at Young Apostles are tormenting goalscorers in the 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League. These goalkeepers have become a nightmare to goalscorers in the league thanks to their trainer Robert Dabuo who was also a nightmare to goalscorers during his time in the postpost.

Robert Dabuo’s impact on the production of some of the best keepers in the league and the country defines the saying “an apple don’t fall far from the tree.”
